2020 Has Been a Crazy Year—Here are 3 Things to Be Grateful for Now!
And a Special Thanksgiving Recipe From Our Family to Yours
Many of us are excited about 2020 coming to an end. As we fill our shopping carts with pumpkin pie ingredients, cranberry sauce, and frozen turkey, we often forget what this holiday is all about. With many Black Friday sales starting Thanksgiving day, it’s easy to get caught in the trap of consuming and forget the meaning behind the holiday—gratitude.
How can we be grateful with everything that’s going on?
It all depends on what we focus on.
Let’s be honest. We’re all hoping for life across our nation to feel a little closer to normal...as soon as possible! But while we’re still finishing out the last few months of this year, it’s important to stop and reflect. While we may not have the answers as far as the end of the pandemic goes—there are still so many things going right in our lives. We just don’t always see them.
1. Good quality insurance coverage—Car accidents happen, and so do natural disasters. Knowing you have an experienced property and casualty insurance agent on your side is peace of mind. Not only does this protect you if the unthinkable happens, but having an independent insurance agent going to bat for you helps save money.
2. Your health—If you’re reading this and you are healthy, that’s something to be thankful for. Many people do not have that gift. Isolation from COVID-19 is causing an epidemic of loneliness and depression. Is there something you can do with your gratitude? How about delivering gifts to retirement centers and nursing homes? Could you call people you know who live alone? Use your good health to bless someone else!
3. Appreciating time with family and friends—Before the pandemic hit, many of us were rushing from one thing to another. We spent a lot more time commuting, running the kids to and from school, and doing things that aren’t as much of an option now. Many people are realizing they have taken their families for granted. Now, more than ever, it’s time to cherish family and friends. Go on walks, play board games, and bring back quality time. If possible, visit family members. Just a few hours on a weekend can boost your spirits and take away feelings of loneliness. We all need to be around people we care about!
The world around us often seems so negative, but it’s not always reality. There are always good things happening, and life is full of opportunities for gratitude! This Thanksgiving, take some time to think about all that you’re grateful for.
